Find out in the first novel of Paula Rose Michelson’s four-book saga e Naomi Chronicles.

Available at:

I had the chance to ask Paula a few questions. Just some random things that give us a peek at the woman behind the author.

Sweet or savoury?
Sweet! Growing up next-door to my grandparents,’ I was blessed to eat bread or sweets anytime I liked because grandpa owned a Jewish bakery and my dad frosted all the cakes. In that day no one sold anything that was a day old, so there were a lot of delectable treats. At one year old, I weighed 32 pounds and have had to watch my weight ever since…but I still love sweets!

Coffee or tea?
Tea! I have a tea pot collection that my friends have added to over the years. Once while Ron was in Idaho, staying at a pastor’s house over night before he preached on Sunday, he admired the wife’s teapot collection and she took one of her prized teapots that she gotten when she was in Russia and gifted it to me.

Chocolate or cookies?
Chocolate or cookies…hum mm, that’s like asking Winnie the Pooh to pick between Piglet and Eeyore! I guess it would depend on what the chocolate or cookie choices are…I know, how about white chocolate tea (I’m fantasizing here) with cinnamon chocolate cookies!

Favourite dish?
My mother-in-law, God bless her, was a chief. She taught my hubby how to cook! So my favorite dish, as my hips can attest to, is anything he makes! However, if we’re going out, I’ve got a list of fave’s we don’t eat at home like anything Greek or hor dourves.

Second Chance in Paradise by Tom Winton - New Release!

I'm honoured to be the blog that Tom Winton's has chosen to showcase his new release. So I won't waste any time but get right to the point and present
Second Chance Ebook

A Second Chance in Paradise

Long Island salesman Sonny Raines has had it. He’s sick and tired of living in a world where wrong always wins over right. Then, on his thirty-ninth birthday, when he loses his job and comes home to the most devastating shock of his life, that’s it. He’s dropping out. With nothing left to lose, and little in his pocket, Sonny chucks it all and drives his aging van fifteen-hundred miles to the lower reaches of the Florida Keys. All he wants is to get over his recent losses and simplify his hectic life, and that’s exactly what he thinks he’s doing when he settles on a paradisiacal speck of an island known as Wrecker’s Key. While surrounded by the warm aquamarine waters of two tropical oceans, he not only falls in love with the key but also establishes a close bond with the free-spirited locals who call it home. But all isn’t blue skies, swaying palms, and coconut oil on Wrecker’s Key. There’s trouble wafting in the warm breezes that caress the island. Although Sonny certainly isn’t looking for romance, he finds himself falling for his next door neighbor. Ex-model Julie Albright just may be the kindest, most beautiful woman to ever grace his eyes, but there’s a snag. She has a small physical flaw that, no matter how hard he tries, Sonny can’t overlook. And his feelings are no secret to Julie. She can read them, and they weigh as heavy on her heart as they do on his. Then things get even worse. One night, under the cover of darkness, danger drifts up the deep, silent currents from the lower keys—serious danger—life and death danger. And Sonny Raines finds himself right in the middle of it.

And if that wasn't enough, I have an excerpt for you to make you want even more! Believe me after reading the following bit, you will click one of the links below and get your copy of the book. :-)

“As soon as I stepped outside I broke into a trot. Passing all the rest of the trailers first then heading up the same narrow road I followed Julie home on the night before, all I could do was think about how she must be reacting right then. I envisioned her staying in her bed alone, thinking. I could see quiet tears making their way down her cheeks. We may have only known each other for twenty-four hours but the mutual attraction we felt – both mental and physical, was undeniable. And it was deep. I knew for sure she really liked me, but there was a lot I didn’t know about Julie Alright. I had no idea she hadn’t had a semblance of interest in any man since her modeling days ended sixteen years earlier in New York City. Nor did I know that back then she was engaged to Mark Richardson, a very promising young attorney. Mark was about to become the youngest partner ever at Dalrymple, Stockton and Stockton, one of New York’s most prestigious law firms. Julie and Mark had been dating for two years, and they had a big wedding planned for that fall. The ceremony was to be held in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, followed by a reception at the Waldorf Astoria. Money was no problem for Mark’s parents and they insisted on buying the grandest wedding available. His father, J. Walter Richardson of Scarsdale and Palm Beach, just happened to be the sole heir of the “American Grains” breakfast cereal fortune. At that time Julie was one of the big up-and-comers in the modeling world. As a matter of fact, she was just about to cross the threshold to cover-girl fame. But it never happened. One June morning, when she was on her way to the biggest shoot of her career, her sunny future eclipsed totally, and in an instant. Sitting in the back seat of a Checker cab, she was headed uptown to the world-renowned Clairidge Studios where she was to pose for an upcoming cover of Vogue Magazine. The sun was beginning to shine, but Madison Avenue was still slick from a late morning rain. Julie, who was sitting behind the driver, cranked down the window and held her left hand out in the breeze, drying her freshly applied nail polish. Then, just as the cab was crossing the intersection at 44th street, another cab, heading east, didn’t bother to stop for the red light. The driver of the at fault cab, one Eloi Hernandez, was so toasted on coke he didn’t even notice the light had turned red. Thoughts of stopping never entered his hopped-up mind until after he’d sped into the intersection – and slammed broadside into Julie’s cab. The impact to the driver’s door was so forceful that her driver’s neck snapped so far sideways it literally cracked. The two vehicles then skidded, smacking sideways into each other, crushing four of Julie’s fingers in the process. The driver of Julie’s cab, a Greek immigrant from Astoria Queens, whose name she never learned, was dead by the time the ambulances reached the scene. Julie was rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital where a team of three plastic surgeons performed micro-surgery in an attempt to re-attach her fingers. Her middle and index fingers were salvaged and the nerves regenerated in due time, but her pinky and ring finger were so badly mashed there was no possible way of saving them. Eloi Hernandez did a short stint on Riker’s Island; the Greek was buried out in Queens by his family; and Julie’s potential international fame never materialized. On top of all that, when Mark Richardson found out Julie had lost two fingers, he decided that just maybe he wasn’t ready for marriage after all. After knotting the loose ends of her life together the best Julie could, she returned to Ft. Lauderdale with lost dreams and a broken heart.”

Let me introduce this very talented author to you by ways of shooting some very fast questions at him.

Hello Tom, and thank you for choosing me to host this release day. To give the few who don't know you a peek of the man behind the author I have a few questions for you.

Sweet or savoury?
Hmmm…that would depend on what kind of mood my stomach was in.

Coffee or tea?
Coffee for sure! Usually I do decaf, but on occasion I take a walk on the wild side and go for the high-octane stuff.

Chocolate or cookies?
That’s a no-brainer. I’d rather eat dark chocolate than breath.

Favourite dish?
seafoodI’ve got quite a few, but a seafood platter with piping hot shrimp, scallops, fish, and all that kind of good stuff is right near the top of both my favourite and favorite list. Sorry, Lucy, couldn’t pass up the opportunity to throw a bit of humor in there.
No worries, it made me chuckle too, but that dish ... Oh, boy, I could do with one of those too.

Mountains or sea?
I’ve spent many thousands of hours fishing in the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico—days and nights, but now I’ll take the mountains in a heartbeat. Recently I lived in Maine’s North Woods for five years, and I yearn to move back up there. I absolutely loved living in the woods alone with just my wife, dog, and all the critters.

Staying or moving?
I think my answer to the preceding question also answers this one perfectly.

Organised or go with the flow?
Unfortunately, I’d have to say organized, for the time being. I hate routine and regimentation, but in this busy, busy writing life there are a lot of things that we must get done. If you can’t organize your time you’re going to leave a lot of strings untied, and that can really hurt an author’s progress.

Just don't forget to let loose every now and then.
dancing brad pit burn after reading

Morning or evening?
Without a doubt, morning is my favorite time. Nothing fills a soul with more hope than a new dawn.

Complain or act?
I usually complain as long as I can. But when it becomes absolutely necessary, I can really kick myself in gear.

Fight or flight?
I’ll come a runnin’ for a cold beer or dinner, but there isn’t much I’m going to run from.

Thank you Tom, and I hope this book will do well on the charts, like all you other work does too. Well deserved If I may add. Do come back if you have more news to share, or just when you have time to write me a guest blog post about any topic close to your heart.

Mending the Line: Book 1
Jill Jennings’ dream of becoming an elite runner turns into a nightmare when she breaks her leg less than a year before the Olympic trials. After two surgeries and a lengthy rehabilitation, she’s ready to pursue her goal again. Or is she… Jill’s healing and ready to hit the pavement, but her passion for the sport she’d planned to make her career unexpectedly wanes. On a whim, she changes course and runs right into tall, blonde, and gorgeous Tyler Bloodworth. Fly fisherman come and go in south central Colorado, but Ty’s back for a second summer, minus his girlfriend and hotter than ever. Tyler Bloodworth’s life plan to start a fly-fishing business with his dad back home in North Carolina is suddenly snagged when Jill Jennings runs circles around his heart during a summer stint as a fishing guide in Colorado. Back for a second summer, he sets his bait and casts his line, but Jill’s not so easy to catch. A catch and release fisherman hooks the one girl he won’t let go. A distance runner with big dreams and an uncertain future falls hard for a summer fling. Can Jill risk losing her career and her heart to Tyler when he’ll be gone in a few months, or will Ty reel in the biggest catch of his life?

Excerpt From Mending the Line: Book 1
“I’m a pretty good guide. You could start with me.” Oh, she’d like to start with him. Maybe his lips, that fascinating scar over his eyebrow, the scruffy chin, the broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long, blunt ended fingers. She’d start and never stop. She shook her head and tried to calm her racing heart. “I’ll give it some thought.” As if she needed an excuse to think of him. He still didn’t make any attempt to leave, but held her captive with his eyes. Her heart raced, her breath came out in short bursts, and she felt her insides turn to liquid. “Ty?” she breathed, her voice a shaky whisper. “Jill?” he mimicked. She stood up on legs she willed to stop trembling, her fingers splayed on the desktop for purchase in case her legs gave out under his stare. “I’m not exactly schooled in this whole thing,” she waved her hand between them, “but I get the feeling you’re hitting on me.” He grinned and she wouldn’t have been surprised if a canary yellow feather popped out of his mouth. “You’re pretty perceptive.” “Okay…why?” “Excuse me?” “I mean, you could have anyone here. Anyone anywhere. I saw your girlfriend. She was petite and blonde and gorgeous. Pretty much the exact opposite of me. I know you know Olivia. She’d run naked through the streets to get your attention, not that she’d need to do that to get a man’s attention, but…” She lifted her shoulders and let them drop as he flashed a mischievous grin. “Do you own a mirror?” he asked. “Yes,” she stated unequivocally. “I do, which is why I’m asking, quite poorly, why me?” He stepped around the desk. She turned, afraid to break contact with his stare, and the back of her legs ended up pushed against the desk. “For the very reason you’re asking and about a hundred more.” He lifted a hand and ran the backs of his fingers down her cheek. The zing it produced felt like lightning coursing through her blood. She felt the electric zap as it whipped through her body, setting fire to every single nerve ending. It was a wonder she didn’t burst into flames with just that one touch. He lightly gripped her chin, lifting her lips to angle perfectly over his. He touched his lips ever so gently to the corner of her mouth. Her hands found their way to his t-shirt and she had just enough firing synapses to register the wall of solid muscle beneath her touch. Then it all went dark as he breezed those lips over hers again and again, whisper soft, never quite making full contact. He cradled her head in his hands until she was practically panting with want. His teasing brushes were the most tantalizing torture she’d ever experienced.

Guiding the Fall:  Book 2
Sexy multi-millionaire Jack Forrester has never needed anyone, and although he’s suffered a crushing blow to his personal and professional life, he’s not about to start now. When he moves to Hailey, Colorado, to look into a new business venture and work with a biographer documenting his career, he meets the beautiful and irresistible Olivia Golden – a woman creating more gossip in town than he is, and making him rethink his views on being alone. Olivia Golden has always enjoyed the attention her beauty has garnered. On the brink of finishing her student-teaching job, she’s ready to leave her hometown, start her career, and find love. Her plans go awry when she’s forced to fight charges levied against her at school and the insanely rich new businessman in town makes her a proposition she can’t refuse. No stranger to loss and public humiliation, Jack offers to help Olivia with the fall-out from the scandal…and soon, she’s offering him something as well. A no-strings-attached relationship. But as the sensual attraction between them grows, Olivia breaks through Jack’s carefully constructed walls to reach the lonely man inside. Will Jack risk his heart to save Olivia’s sinking ship, or will the beautiful teacher guide herself straight into a fall, and take him with her?

Excerpt from Guiding the Fall:  Book 2
Lyle rolled his eyes. “My breathing makes you uncomfortable.” “That’s not true. But I refuse to fall starry eyed at your feet like every other woman in this town.” Lyle jerked back, his brows shooting up to his hairline. “What other women?” Erica felt her face heat and spun around to grab the water pitcher she’d filled for the table. “Never mind.” Lyle said and stepped in her path. “No, I’d love to know what other women in town are dropping starry eyed at my feet.” “I’m not going to stand here and feed your ego.” “What ego? I haven’t had an actual date in…” His eyes roamed the ceiling as he did mental calculations. “Months. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m not the one getting mauled on your patio. I’m the one getting his ass chewed inside.” “Don’t get all fussy with me because your girlfriend’s playing the field.” “I told you before Olivia’s not my girlfriend.” “I don’t care what she is.” “Then why do you keep throwing her and every other woman in town in my face as if I’m some kind of womanizer? You don’t know anything about me.” “You’re right, I don’t. And I don’t want to. I think it would be best if we just stayed out of each other’s way.” She tried to step around him, and he blocked her again. She tried the opposite direction only to have the pitcher bounce off his chest when he stepped in her path again. “What is your problem?” He looked down at her with his piercing brown eyes full of fury. His impossibly adorable dimples flashed. “Maybe I don’t want to stay out of your way. Maybe I’m sick and tired of having you pop in and out of my mind fifty times a day. Maybe if I actually got to know you, I’d have enough reasons to stop thinking about you all the time and wondering why your cantankerous attitude is so damn appealing to me.” “Who says stuff like that?” Erica hollered. “I’m not cant—whatever that word is. I’m pissed, and if you don’t get out of my way and let me put this heavy pitcher on the table, I’ll pour it over your head.” When he grabbed the pitcher and challenged her with his eyes to make the next move, Erica stood speechless and fuming. “Cantankerous, “Lyle said, “means crabby, grouchy, and generally irritable. And in your case, for no good reason.” Olivia didn’t seem to notice the tension when she breezed inside and asked where the bathroom was located. “Down the hall.” Erica pointed without breaking eye contact with Lyle. “Second door on the left.” Jack sat at the table. “Are you two going to stand around flirting all night long or are we going to eat dinner?” “Urrrrghh!” Erica grunted through gritted teeth. She turned around, grabbed the lasagna she’d worked all day to prepare, and plopped it on the table. “This was a great idea, Jack. Just great.”

Taming the Moguls:  Book 3
In the finale of the Golden Rule Outfitters series, small town business mogul Tommy Golden faces the biggest fight of his life. A corporate giant is threatening to commercialize the area’s quiet ski lift and change the fabric of the valley he calls home. When he discovers the woman sent to plead Holcomb Industries case is the woman who ripped his heart out a decade before, his passion to fight the development becomes a personal quest for revenge. Gretchen Lowrey knows her first and only love Tommy Golden lives in the valley where she’s been sent to negotiate with a group fighting her employer, but she doesn’t know he’s in charge of the resistance. If there’s one thing Gretchen understands it’s that she can’t change the past, but dealing with Tommy in the present is anything but pleasant. He’s still furious at her for walking out on him, but she can’t explain her reasons for leaving now any more than she could years before. The best thing she can do—the safest thing—is to broker a deal and get out of town fast. But fate has other plans. When Tommy and Gretchen are stranded on a snowy mountaintop, the last thing on their minds is a deal. The gloves come off and the rules get tossed out the window. Because in the game of love, there are no rules.

Excerpt from Taming the Moguls: Book 3
Tommy stayed seated and stretched his long legs beneath the table, crossing his boot-clad feet. The door at her back jangled at Dodge’s retreat. Gretchen remained standing. She didn’t trust herself to be alone with Tommy. She’d anticipated a difficult audience before she knew he was involved. But standing there, facing him, felt like facing a one-man firing squad. “If you don’t have any questions, I suppose we can call this meeting adjourned.” “I’ve got plenty of questions,” Tommy said, gripping his chin. The motion drew her attention to his mouth and the lips she’d dreamt about only the night before. In her dreams, they were soft and inviting, a far cry from the tight line they formed as he pressed them together. “Was this fun for you? Ambushing me?” “It wasn’t an ambush. I didn’t know you had anything to do with STS until a few days ago. By then, I was already here and it was too late to back out.” “Backing out is your style. Why change now when you can dig the knife a little deeper into my back.” Oh, God. She’d hurt him. The anger and the pain were so evident, and she’d tried so hard to shield him from pain. “I’m not trying to hurt you, Tommy.” “You can’t hurt me, Gretchen. I’d have to care for you to hurt me, and I just don’t anymore. You made sure of that.” She swallowed against the wave of nausea. What would he do if he knew the truth? What would it cost her? “I’m sorry you feel that way.” He stood up slowly, tucking his legs beneath him and straightening to his full six feet, two inches, forcing her to look up to meet his icy stare. “I don’t feel anything but disgust. I remember the girl who wanted to see the world and make a difference. I never thought she’d become a corporate hack. Course, I never thought she’d do a lot of things. Shame on me for expecting better of her.” She should be numb. Why was he able to aim those darts right where it hurt the most? “That girl is gone. She died right along with her dreams.” Tommy leaned down. Gretchen felt his breath stir her hair and squeezed her eyes closed. “I could have told you he wasn’t worth it,” he whispered. His boots clicked on the hardwood floors as he moved toward the door. “We don’t always get to choose,” she murmured. The door jingled as he gripped the handle, and Gretchen turned her head just as he cut his eyes out the front window. “Everything we have in life is a choice. I’m not going to let this valley suffer because you made the wrong one.”
